The U.S. Department of Education has designated the University of Redlands as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), recognizing the institution’s ongoing commitment to serving Hispanic/Latinx Americans among the University’s student populations.
The University is eligible for U.S. Department of Education grants to expand educational opportunities for Hispanic/Latinx students; help increase the number of Hispanic/Latinx students attaining degrees in the STEM fields; and expand educational opportunities for students earning postsecondary degrees. Fondo Dirección is a program of mini-grants to support pilot projects and events organized by students. Eligible projects/events will support the main goal of our federal Title V grant for Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions, "Proyecto Dirección: Building Belonging and Latinx Success at the University of Redlands," to create a sense of belonging for Hispanic/Latinx students at the University of Redlands.

Join us for our first annual Proyecto Dirección Student Leadership Retreat where we will have conversations about identity, belonging and leadership; panels with Latinx faculty, staff, and alumni; small group activities; and opportunities for engagement between undergraduate and graduate students.
Dates: Friday evening to Sunday morning, March 8-10, 2024

The retreat is open to all students at the university, including undergraduate and graduate students across all colleges and schools. Space is limited to 50 participants so early registration is encouraged. Please apply through the MS Form (use the button below).
The retreat is funded through a federal Title V grant for Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions. It is one component of the grant proposal, "Proyecto Dirección: Building Belonging and Latinx Success at the University of Redlands," which also includes expansion of the STEP, Summer Bridge, First-Year Journeys, and Transfer Student Success programs; Fondo Dirección mini-grants for student organizations; and training opportunities for faculty.
Funding will fortify existing programs and support development of new initiatives that create a sense of belonging for all students.
